Psychiatrie Noord has a focus on group treatments. These group treatments are part of an integrated treatment plan.

Psychiatrie Noord offers the following group treatments:

Anxiety

This group treatment focuses on treating anxiety disorders. With the use of cognitive behavioral therapy you gain insight into how behavior and thoughts influence your feelings. You also learn skills to influence this.

Depression

This group treatment focuses on treating mood disorders. This group treatment is aimed at improving mood by working on different thoughts and behaviors that may be associated with depression. In addition, attention is also paid to underlying patterns that maintain the depression or that make you vulnerable to relapse.

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)

In this group treatment you gain insight into your thought patterns and core beliefs: you examine how your thoughts are related to your feelings and behavior and how you can change this.

Acceptance and commitment (ACT)

ACT is short for Acceptance and Commitment Therapy.
In ACT it is important to work on “psychological flexibility”: the higher that flexibility, the better it is possible to deal with psychological complaints (and the lower the flexibility, the greater the risk of stagnating complaints). In ACT we try to change what we can change and learn to accept what we cannot change.

ADHD

When being diagnosed with AD(H)D it is important to learn what this diagnosis means for you and to explore your coping strategies. The main goals of the group treatment are providing information about AD(H)D and to get in contact with fellow peers to exchange experiences. In addition, you learn and practice important skills that are useful in coping with the symptoms of AD(H)D.

Negative self-image

This group treatment is for people with a negative self-image, people who have become depressed because of their negative self-image and want to get started on changing this. This group treatment is based on cognitive behavioral therapy. This form of therapy focuses on changing your cognitions and behavior. In this way you will learn to look at yourself differently, you will learn new behaviors and you will engage in situations that you are now avoiding due to your negative self-image.
